Graduate Recruitment

Great opportunities in a great county

With the economic climate being so uncertain at the moment, and with around 1 million people aged 16-24 unemployed, the 400,000 or so people graduating this year will find that work opportunities are few and far between.

Employers are being much more selective and we are increasingly seeing more and more applicants for each vacancy. In order to get that crucial job, applicants need to demonstrate that they are the best candidate. Getting better experience and qualifications than one’s competitors is the way over that hurdle.

Graduate Recruitment Fairs

One of the best ways for Graduates to find a new job is via the Graduate recruitment fairs. The University of Northampton holds this event every November and it always attracts a great turn out from local and national employers keen to find the pick of the graduates in Northamptonshire

This year's event will take place on Wednesday 4 November 2009 from 11am-4pm at the Sunley Management Centre at the University's Park Campus.

Tourism Internship Scheme

Northampton Business School at the University of Northampton has developed an internship scheme to provide Marketing graduates with the opportunity to get that precious work experience whilst at the same time working towards a post-graduate Marketing module.

Focussing on tourism and related businesses, there is the chance for companies large and small within this sector to host an intern over 12-26 weeks to undertake a significant marketing project. This experience, along with some class work will count towards the post-graduate module that is awarded at the end of the internship. The credits for the module can count towards a post-graduate diploma or Masters degree.

The hosting companies have no costs other than having to provide the workspace for the intern and the resources that they may use as part of the project. Participating companies will benefit from hosting a motivated person, whose knowledge and enthusiasm will help to deliver a project that could add significant value to the organisation.

Other graduate and careers fairs will also be taking place around the county, for more details see these links:
