The QiSS scheme promotes quality in the provision of study support and, therefore, thoroughly scrutinizes the evidence that it needs from a centre before issuing its kite mark.
2009 is the 12th year of this government project and our successes with young people are now being replicated at many top sports clubs across Europe.
“We are delighted to receive this recognition for our work at the Study Centre," saind Peter Austen, Saints Study Centre manager. "Sport can provide other avenues to enhance the learning of children, particularly for those where a mainstream approach is not always the best learning methodology.”
This adds to the recent award for promoting 'Engagement and Active Involvement of Young People in Northamptonshire', which the Study Centre achieved in March of this year. This award, presented by Northamptonshire County Council, demonstrates the commitment of the Study Centre staff to actively involve young learners in the day-to-day running and decision making at the Study Centre.
"The QiSS award is testament to the hard work that Pete and his team put in at the Saints Study Centre," said Sian Haynes, head of community at Northampton Saints. "During the week and on matchdays they are helping young people further themselves and gain confidence that they can take into their academic studies and many students from across the county have benefitted from their work at the Study Centre. I congratulate Pete and his team on receiving this prestigious award."
