This museum is home to Northampton’s world famous shoe collection. The Life & Sole gallery shows the history of shoemaking and recreates a Northampton shoe factory. There’s a gallery showing how fashions in shoes have changed over a hundred years. Examples include designs by Salvatore Ferragomo, Manolo Blahnik and Vivienne Westwood.
The Museum also houses collections charting the history of the town from the Stone Age to the present day.
The Art Gallery has a permanent collection of paintings and ceramics, including a large number of Italian paintings dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, and hosts a number of changing exhibitions through the year.
