My work has been described as ‘strangely interesting’, no matter what it is! It has been described as ‘eerie’ and ‘strange’ and ‘other-wordly’, but i never mean it to be like that, it seems to be a natural occurrence.

I emailed some of my images to a very well-known artist and he told me they were ‘quite something’, fascinating, Victorian-looking, and that they spooked him out!

The paintings i am describing are all tonal, sepia toned and look like old Victorian photographs. They are of old, bygone dancing girls in skimpy costumes, or spooky-looking children. I always wanted the paintings to look mysterious, but they seem to go beyond that..

I exhibited them at the Star Inn in Geddington last summer and the BBC were there filming a documentary about the old inn. David Dimbleby is the presenter and he had a look at my paintings when they were all displayed in the dining area. I am glad it was my work that was on display.

Many people have scoffed at me, saying i would ‘become a famous artist when i am dead’! and they have always told me to ‘get a proper job’. I have two part-time jobs, and the hours i work enable me to paint in peace. I will carry on painting and exhibiting whether they like it or not. I am doing this for ME!.
